Collection: Guatemala Pottery

Introducing exquisite Guatemalan pottery, handmade in San Antonio Polopo on the shores of Lake Atitlan. These stunning pieces were acquired during a memorable journey to Guatemala in February 2024, where I had the privilege of visiting three talented artist workshops and stores. Special thanks to Trixie for arranging an exceptional boat captain, Nolbert, whose excellent English and local expertise guided us to these hidden gem pottery shops. Nolbert not only led us to the workshops but also graciously assisted with carrying our purchases back to the boat, ensuring that I can offer these unique treasures to you. Meeting the skilled artists and learning from them was a truly enriching experience, made possible through the assistance of an amazing local guide.

San Antonio Polopo, though small in size, holds a rich cultural heritage, with a population of approximately 15,000 people who are part of the Cakchiquel Maya community. The village's patron saint, St. Anthony of Padua, further adds to its charm and significance.

Each piece of pottery embodies the artistry and tradition of the Cakchiquel Maya people, featuring vibrant colors and intricate designs that showcase the region's distinctive craftsmanship. By bringing these beautiful creations to your home, you are not only adding a touch of Guatemala’s artistic heritage but also supporting the talented artisans and their vibrant community. Explore these unique treasures from San Antonio Polopo, and embrace the beauty of Guatemalan craftsmanship.
